CBE launches mobile money platform

click for full sizeCommercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) officially launched its mobile money services dubbed CBE Birr on December 11, 2017 after successfully testing its functionality for six months. CBE Birr is a mobile based banking whereby the bank selects, trains and authorizes agents to provide banking services on behalf of the bank through a mobile phone. It is deployed as a means of extending financial services to the unbanked segment of the public.

CBE Customer Contact Centre Inaugurated

The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) inaugurated the first ever Customer Contact Centre in Ethiopia’s financial industry on Saturday, February 10, 2018.
Speaking on the occasion, CBE President Ato Bekalu Zeleke said the centre is of world class standard equipped with technology that helps achieve service excellence.

CBE Posts Commendable Performance in Half Year

The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has announced a general positive assessment of its banking operations in the first six months of 2017/18.
The bank maintained commendable performance in deposit mobilization, loan collection and disbursement, implementing and expanding modern banking according to the bank’s president, Bekalu Zeleke. The remark was made during the half-year performance evaluation of CBE held recently at Hawassa, the regional capital of Southern Nations, Nationalities, and People’s State.

New Round of Prize Linked Saving Promotion begins

The 7th Round Prize Linked Saving (PLS) Promotion which lasts for six months kicked off on January 1, 2018.
 
Customers that deposit 500 birr and above during the period are entitled to receiving coupon numbers through their cell phones upon depositing the stated amount of money in any of the branches of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.
