CBE Earns Close to 18 Billion Birr Profit

The Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has earned a gross profit of 17.9 billion birr in the 2018/19 budget year.
This was disclosed at the annual performance evaluation meeting of the bank held from August 16-17, 2019 at Africa Union Hall.
President and CEO of CBE, Ato Bacha Gina said on the occasion the bank has mostly exceeded the financial goals it set for the fiscal year.
He explained that the gross profit earned is much higher than last year’s 10.9 billion birr.
The bank’s total asset has also reached 712 billion birr, registering 145 billion birr increase in just a year, Ato Bacha added. .

Ministry of Revenues has awarded the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) for being the most loyal top taxpayer by paying over 3.5 billion Birr in the fiscal year 2018/19.

Lottery winners of the 8th Round CBE Prize-Linked Savings Programme were publicized on August 1, 2019.
The biggest prizes of the 8th round, the five apartments went to Beyeda, Hossana, Jarso, Wolayta Sodo, and Bobicho branches.
Speaking on the occasion, CBE President and CEO Bacha Gina said this programme is different from the previous seven round programmes as it had two parts.
The first category covered the period from January 2 to April 1,2019 with bundles of prize that include 15 three-wheel vehicles, 15 motor bicycles, 15 electric and gas stoves, and 750 smart phones.

CBE management and employees planted over 123 thousand seedlings in more than twelve sites across the country today, July 29, 2019.

Speaking on the occasion W/ro Melika Bedri, Acting President and CEO of CBE said today Ethiopia was planting 200 million tree saplings within a day surpassing the record set by India in 2017.

CBE Launches Saving account for Hajj, Umrah Pilgrims

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia has launched special saving account meant to Haji and Umrah pilgrims for expenses to perform the Islamic rituals Hajj and/or Umrah. The commencement of the service would enable the customer to deposit a certain amount of money as per the scheduled time set by the bank for the Pilgrimage travel. CBE IFB Vice President Ato Nuri Hussein said the service dubbed “Labbaik Saving Account” is guided and operated based on Interest Free Banking procedure especially prepared for pilgrimage travelers to Mecca.
