The abundant harvest expected this season has created favorable condition for the fulfillment of the targets of the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE), according to CBE President Ato Bekalu Zeleke.
The President made the above remark during the half-year performance evaluation of CBE held recently at Hawassa, the regional capital of Southern Nations, Nationalities and Peoples State.
The bank has seen a successful half year in all aspects of its operation, Ato Bekalu said, adding that the coming quarters are even more promising due to the prevailing peace and the anticipated harvest.
He further pointed out that CBE has yet a better chance of registering improved performance in the coming quarters as the export volume of the country is growing.
Subsequently, the President called on all the pertinent Processes to make the necessary preparations to effectively tackle their respective duties.  
A report presented to the participants by the Office of Strategy Management stated that the achievements of CBE during the past six months of FY 2016/17 were commendable.
Close to 32 billion birr deposit has been mobilized and more than 40 billion birr made available in loans and bond disbursement, the report added.
With respect to electronic payment (e-payment), the total number of active card holders reached 1.8 million and active users of CBE mobile and internet banking services 1,263,399 and 19,114 respectively.
The report also said the number of ATMs has reached 1,155 and that of POS terminals 6,508.
